I  cannot imagine living in a flat without a balcony. A balcony overlooking the blue Bosphorus if we dare to dream big.  Here is a sample of  balconies and bay windows in various architectural styles I have archived over the years. Here and there in every neighborhood, depending on its history and fabric, you will come across  such handsome balconies, which remind us of  a bygone era. You need to torture your feet though, I am warning you,  in order to dig them out. 

Storm through the streets of Fener, Galata, Karaköy and Kumkapı, and you will be generously rewarded, I promise.
